The Metis ESL Program aims to:
Develop reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills
Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English
Gain an understanding of the major components of American culture
With a structured curriculum based on different proficiency levels, engaging teaching strategies, and recommended resources; we aim to provide a comprehensive and effective ESL/ELL learning experience for students.
Beginner Level (pre-A1)
Communicate and exchange basic information
Understand simple phrases, instructions, and questions
Develop basic reading and writing skills
Elementary Level (A1)
Deal with simple, straightforward information
Solve basic problems
Use vocabulary taught in school
Upper Elementary Level (A2)
Describe experiences and events
Read and write simple texts
Participate in basic conversations
Lower Intermediate Level (A2 - B1)
Handle key tasks at school/work
Understand complex texts' main ideas
Write short essays
Intermediate Level (B1 - B2)
Understand the main ideas in complex texts
Write about current events
Speak fluently and interact with native speakers/ Understand idiomatic expressions
Upper-Intermediate Level (B2)
Deal with complex tasks at school and work
Write complex texts
Communicate with fluency, accuracy, and organization
Understand professional, academic, and social contexts
