Sandra Gao
President
Sandra Gao ('26) is a student at Stuyvesant High School. She aspires to be like her elementary school teachers that influenced her love of learning, and she believes that everyone can learn given the right support. She joined The Metis Project to help students discover their own love for knowledge, and pursue her passion for teaching others. She also likes to volunteer for her community and is a part Stuyvesant's Key Club. Besides academics, Sandra likes to enjoy time with friends and crochet amigurumi.

Vienna Chen ('26) is a student at the Bronx High School of Science. They joined Metis to share their love for teaching and facilitate a space for students to learn. Aside from academics, they have a passion for visual arts, creative writing, reading, and singing. At BXSCI, you can find them as the president of Lunar Productions and Chinese Culture Club!
Ziying Zhang

Ziying Zhang ('26) is a student at Stuyvesant High School. She mainly teaches math and creative writing, and is passionate about humanitarian work and the mission the Metis Project has set on. Ziying’s biggest lifelong hobby will always be reading, but she also thoroughly enjoys cooking, baking, and playing piano.
Aileen Chen
Art Basics Department Manager
Aileen Chen ('26) is a student at Stuyvesant High School. Passionate about the arts, she joined Metis to help students with similar interests develop and grow their talents. She believes that with effort and dedication, any student can achieve their goals. As an artist and musician, she spends most of her time painting and preparing for performances. She’s also co-director of her school’s Creative Arts Initiative student committee. In her free time, she enjoys watching movies, playing badminton, and studying psychology.

Alan Liang (’26) is a student at Stuyvesant High School. He joined the Metis Project because he wants to help make learning more engaging and interesting to students. He believes everyone deserves a chance to explore their interests and grow academically. Outside of Metis, he’s involved in robotics and he enjoys coding, volunteering, and staying curious about the world.

Ariana Lin ('26) is a student at Stuyvesant High School. She joined Metis to help students grow and learn as people and in school. She believes in every student’s opportunities to learn about themselves through their schools, and participates in Speech & Debate as a result. She enjoys reading, listening to music, and watching tv shows.
Chloe Tam
Puzzles & Riddles Department Head
Chloe Tam ('26) is a student at Stuyvesant High School. She, inspired by her past experiences of being guided by tutors, joined Metis in the summer of 2023 to help spread her passion for learning to other students. She is an avid debater and is passionate about creative writing, competition math, music, and law. When she has free time, Chloe loves to bake and cook.
Gephel Kogyal

Gephel Kogyal ('26) is a student at Stuyvesant High School. He joined the Metis Project because he enjoys helping students learn more about what they are passionate about, while also spreading his love for chess. In his free time, he enjoys swimming, reading, and listening to music. He recommends the artists: Frenesi, Fishmans, and Eiji Kitamura.

Joshua Kim ('27) is a student at Stuyvesant High School. He joined the Metis Project because he loves teaching younger kids, specifically math and science. He strongly believes everyone deserves the right to education, so he also co-founded a literacy program that aims to provide free literacy training for younger elementary schoolers. He enjoys playing sports and hanging out with friends.

Karen Xu (’26) is a student at Stuyvesant High School. She joined Metis out of her love for interacting with kids and her other experiences tutoring. Outside of Metis, she’s involved with layouting for the school newspaper, robotics, and Girls Who Code. In her free time, she enjoys being a foodie, drinking matcha, and listening to Seventeen.

Lilian Fu ('26) is a student at Francis Lewis High School. She joined the Metis Project because she’s passionate about educational equity and loves supporting younger students, especially those who feel overlooked. Outside of Metis, she’s involved in piano and crocheting, enjoys creative writing, and loves exploring the city with friends. She believes that even small acts of mentorship can create a lasting impact.
Lourdie Marc Tadena

Lourdie Marc Tadena (‘26) is a student at the Bronx High School of Science. Having grown up in a family of artists, he developed a passion for art— in creating, observing, and teaching it. He enjoys making digital art, but is practicing sewing as well. He joined The Metis Project to help kids pursue their artistic endeavors, sharpen skills, have fun. Alongside art, Lourdie spends his time exploring the city, listening to music, and eating food.
Madison Li

Madison Li (‘26) is a student at Stuyvesant High School. She joined Metis to expand educational opportunities for students across the city. She primarily teaches Math and SHSAT Prep. She is also responsible for managing the organization’s social media platforms. She believes that visuals and firsthand experiences play a key role in the learning process. Outside of Metis, she is on the fencing team. She volunteers at her local churches. She also runs a small business.
Marc Haddad

Marc Haddad ('27) is a student at Stuyvesant High School. He mainly teaches math and science and loves to experiment with a variety of teaching styles. Being in a family with 3 younger siblings, Marc is passionate in using teaching skills he acquired to teach middle and high school students and show the beauty of learning to them. Outside of the Metis Project, Marc is a member of Stuyvesant Seekers and the technology manager for the KillsBoro Chess Club, and he is planning to start his own educational YouTube channel to share his knowledge to others around the world.

Rexana Chen ('26) is a student at Stuyvesant High School. She loves teaching and has a passion for science. Rexana believes everyone should have the resources to reach their academic goals and strive for more. She hopes to contribute to her tutees' success and accomplishments. Outside of the Metis Project, she is the secretary of StuyOly and competes in Envirothon. She also enjoys playing games like sudoku, reading fantasy novels, and watching TV shows.
Ruiyin (Amy) Deng
SHSAT Department Manager
Amy Deng ('26) is a student at Stuyvesant High School. She joined Metis to help guide middle schoolers into their high school journey, both in preparation for the curricula as well as the admissions process. She believes that every student is capable of reaching their goals in academics, and loves teaching younger children. In her free time, she does ballet and contemporary dance, runs, bikes, and enjoys baking and gardening.
Sophie Zhao
SHSAT Department Head
Sophie Zhao ('26) is a student at Stuyvesant High School. She loves helping other students with subjects related to STEM. She joined Metis Project in order to prepare students for the SHSAT exam as well as to assist students with math. She believes that there is educational inequality in this world since some students with the potential to excel in a certain subject don’t receive sufficient training or encouragement, and that Metis Project strives to combat this. Aside from tutoring, she leads her school’s astronomy club and writes for the Science Department of her school newspaper.

Wenni Lu (‘27) is a student at Stuyvesant High School. They first joined the Metis Project to find something to do over the summer, but it has now become a new interest for them. Wenni enjoys supporting tutees with their education, fostering their interests, and forming a friendship with them. When they are not busy, you can see them writing, volunteering, doing artistic activities, dancing, and even learning in their ordinary habitats. If you have any pets, they will ask to see them! :)
